We are heading to the beach in August and I am SO looking forward to it…for the most part. This year we have to pack and prepare for a pre-schooler and a toddler in addition to ourselves. I have been researching and compiling a list of essentials to take with us. Hope you find this useful for your summer travels with kids!!
1. Baby Tent/Cabana: The Under the Sea Cabana With Zippered Mesh Front from Toys R Us looks like it will do the job and hopefully keep your baby away from the sun. We are going to buy this for our upcoming beach vacay with the hopes that Scarlett will stay put!
2. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen: Docs tell us that babies under the age of ONE cannot use sunscreen. The Honest Company has an SPF 30 that can be used for babies under 6 months of age. This is perfect to keep on hand since the entire fam can use it.
3. After Sun Lotion: Your fun trip to the beach could come to a quick halt if that lotion wears off and someone gets a little sun burned. This After Sun Lotion from Naturally Cool Kids is safe for babies 3 months and older.
4. Reading Materials: If you are lucky enough to get some time alone whether on the actual beach on on the deck, check out Amazon’s 10 Best Summer Beach Reads via Huffington Post. I definitely plan to find some time to read a couple of these picks.
5. A Fabulous Beach Hat: Once you got all of the sun you can handle, grab your hat. I am obsessed with this one from Anthropologie. There are a ton of fabulous hats on that website…be careful!
6. Summer Jams via Buzzfeed: LOVING Sia’s Chandelier at the moment.
7. Beach Cart: This will be our first trip to the shore with 2 kiddies and I am a little anxious when it comes to lugging everything a few blocks. I have been looking around and think the Rio Beach Wonder Wheeler Plus Beach Cart will do the job.
8. Sneakers and a Jogging Stroller: These items should already be in your possession, While vacation is a time to relax, eat, drink, and relax some more it is also a good idea to get some exercise in on the boardwalk.
9. Booze: Happy Hour at the beach…there is nothing like it. With kids, HH might have to take place in a house rather than at a bar though. Stock the fridge with some grapefruit flavored soda to make a Pomona, along with the usual beer and wine.
10. Beach Totes: How adorbs are these totes from Pottery Barn Kids?
11. Maxi Dress: Perf for hanging out after a day on the beach or going to dinner. Love the summer feel of this one from H&M.
12. Beach Towels: Get them pretty much anywhere but look for ones on sale. There is no reason to buy a beach towel for $40.
13, Sunnies: If I didn’t lose or break all of my sunglasses I would be purchasing a pair of these Ray-Bans for our vacay. Instead I will be rocking my Forever 21 sunnies.
13. Kids Bathing Suits: I cannot handle the cuteness of this Gap Kids summer line.
