The bum bag is back! Festival-goers embrace the Nineties accessory via Daily Mail
I read this article the other day and it got me thinking. My next bag purchase will be a fanny pack, aka a bum bag. First off, thank you to the Brits for giving this bag a more socially acceptable name. Who really wants to wear a FANNY PACK? When that term is mentioned we all cringe, thinking back to how heinous they were 25 years ago. Well you know what? Not only are there some really awesome looking ones now, they serve another purpose. They allow use of both hands. This is significant for people like us moms (there are ones for dads, too!) who need as much help as possible taking care of these little crazy kiddies of ours.
The trend seems to be catching on with celebs, but not with the “regular” people of America. Yes I have seen a few stylish women rock these bags recently but not enough. Let’s bring them back and make bum bags “cool” again, especially for the parents out there in the world. With all of the random stuff we need to carry around (phone, keys, tampons, advil, lip gloss, cash money) these bum bags will let us do our jobs with the peace of mind that everything we need is a quick zip away. They will also come in handy on nights out when we don’t have to worry about lugging a clutch around. There really is no downside! So will you do it? Will you ditch the bad rep that “fanny packs” have and buy a bum bag?
